Lost in A.R.T by Kelly King

Let me preface this article with the following information… You’ve probably seen me around town with my dog. I either walk or hike an average of 42 miles every week, especially when it’s nice outside. I live within 7.2 miles of everywhere I go. That being said, sometimes I would rather take the bus due to inclement weather or I am suffering from a bad case of sleep deprivation and just don’t have the motivation to walk.

When I heard about A.R.T. (Albuquerque Rapid Transit), I could not understand how anyone aside from those businesses that are on Central could possibly be upset about this project. Of particular concern was the Nob Hill district.
Granted, I live at the beginning of the war zone. I get tired of all of the drug dealers, pot (a.k.a. chronic) emanating from apartment buildings surrounding mine, alcoholics, tweakers and hypodermic needles I continue to find in my neighborhood. As a result, I wanted to move to a complex where I would be completely dependent on the bus system in Albuquerque.
I reconsidered due to A.R.T., thinking I could put off moving for a year, knowing full well the project could become problematic at times. I just wanted to be in a quiet, safe area away from all of the crime. Then, lo and behold, what did I find?
There are orange cones and barrels for safety purposes all over Central Avenue, which seem to move every week. Bus stops keep moving. I will go to what I think is for either the 66 or 777 bus.I will be waiting awhile and next thing I know, the bus I was waiting for goes right past me. I wind up walking at least half a mile trying to find another “correct” stop. I thought I knew where the bus stops all along Central and San Mateo were, but then they were moved.
Yesterday, I took the Lomas bus to San Mateo. Then I waited for the 140 or 141 to go south bound along San Mateo. It was supposed to be a straight shot. NO! The San Mateo bus went South to Copper Avenue, headed west on Copper, southbound one block to Central Avenue, then eastbound down Central. Holy crap! Talk about frustrating.
Now there’s talk that there might not be enough money to finish the Albuquerque Rapid Transit project.WTF? Mayor Berry has no back-up plan should funding run out. Who is going to foot the bill? My bet is the taxpayers.
So, my stance is, fix whatever holes are along Central and make the city go back to the old bus system.

Trumps broad Characterization of Muslims and Hispanics as Criminals based on the actions of a very few is Morally wrong.

Trump is insinuating that Hispanics and Muslims are criminals. He is founding this argument on the isolated criminal actions of a very few people,so few that they have almost no statistical bearing.this is morally wrong and indicative of fascism and a tyrant.Martin Luther king taught us all “Judge not a man by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character”.I will not broadly characterize the vast majority of Latinos or Muslims as villains, rapist or criminals because of the crimes of an isolated few.I know in my heart that the majority of Hispanics and Muslims are honest hard working god fearing people.I will judge each person by the content of their character and I will not judge them because of alternative facts or the workings of a tyrant.I believe in America,I believe as an american it is my duty to protect my country and countrymen, but i will not sacrifice freedom for security.By going against the tide,by not following the fascist status quo of racial persecution,I am becoming an even brighter beacon of humanity and whats right and I encourage others to do the same.

Paisanos: The Best Italian Restaurant in the Southwest.

Paisano’s restaurant is the best restaurant in the Albuquerque. Not only does the restaurant use all homemade ingredients like pasta, chips and bread, but they also use authentic traditional recipes and methods from the old country. As the owner said “the kitchen is like a little grandmas kitchen in Italy” and they still do things that same way.If you like all fresh ingredients as well as homemade, Paisano’s is the place to be.The taste of the food is pure, that’s the best way to put it,pure authenticity.

It is the presidents job, duty and obligation to utilize the press of the American People.

The constitution of The United States of America ensures freedom of the press, for the president to do anything contrary to this is a slap in the face to every American. The White House belongs to the people, and the presidency is to serve the people.Denial of the press to enter the White House shows the true character of this tyrant and we the people should move towards impeachment.

We must remember D-day and all the lives lost in the fight against Fascism, Lest we repeat it!

thmng4i6wc

On June 6th,1944, hundreds of thousands of Americans sent brave members of their family to liberate Europe and the world from Nazi Germany. The operation was called Operation Overlord, and it was the largest, deadliest and most heroic invasion in the history of the world. Thousands of American service members landed on the beaches of Normandy France facing heavy gunfire many lost their lives. The United States Led the assault because a dictator told the German people he would maker their country great again, he then took over the press and began demonizing minorities in that country, as he wanted a superior Anglo race. Most of his anger was directed to Jewish People In which he killed 6 Million Jewish men women and children. Adolf Hitler lied to his people, lied to the world, and caused World War II. The whole world united against fascism, but his axis of evil was too powerful and only the United States Could turn the tide. The whole world remembers what our country did, what our ancestors did on the beaches of Normandy that day. We sent our very best to fight for humanity, for freedom, and justice, and the fair treatment of all.
When facing the challenges we face today in our society we must remember our history. We are those troops that landed on Normandy, their spirits lives in our blood! We cannot forget what they did, and we cannot let any politicians try to make us ignorant of history or lead us to believe that oppressing people is right. We as a people must be vigilant about our rights and our culture and the national status quo in which we live. We are nation built by immigrant and defended by immigrants, we should be the most open to immigrants.
The problems facing The United States today are not immigrants, the problems are corporations meddling in our government and showing favoritism to the rich. This ruins our system, we can’t have corporations outsourcing jobs and we must tax the rich like everyone else. Our system runs off of equality and production, when there are disparities the schools fall apart, the infrastructure, the immigration system, many and many other government systems decline to inadequate funds caused by poor taxing and lack of jobs. Whatever we do, we cannot forget the reason why we landed on Normandy, the liberation of the world from fascism, hate, racism, oppression, prejudice and the destruction of the idea that all men are created equal. This is our reminder, our part of history that guides our actions for the future. We cannot forget history or we will repeat it.

The privatization of American prisons is a conflict of interest between corporations, the people and the true role of the government.

The privatization of our prison systems is a conflict of interest between the government, corporations and the people of America. We the people should never put ourselves in a position where corporations use the government to make money. America is the greatest country on earth but if we allow corporations to create a military industrial complex and destroy our rights as individuals then we are letting ourselves down as well as the  vision of our founding fathers. All of our systems are the best, our judicial system, our legislative system and our executive system are all the best, but when we let corporations influence our government we are finished. I am a capitalist, I believe in corporations, but I believe I am a true capitalist in the sense that I believe corporations should stay out of the government realm and compete amongst each other on the global market, corporations should also fairly rise and fall instead of getting government assistance, this helps for new funds to enter the global financial markets, without government intervention and allows societies and governments to function a way that actually helps corporations in the long run; by creating more and  better consumers.

Some local Media publications jumping on the racist bandwagon.

Some local New Mexican TV and Newspaper entities are jumping on the Racist bandwagon by publishing stories on “Mexican Cartels” and the “Mexican Criminal element” why weren’t they publishing these stories before Donald trumps demonization of Hispanics and immigrants?News should benefit all people in a community and it shouldn’t be tailored either to oppress or to gain ratings on the misfortune of others.

The Karma Cafe:Operating on Good Will

wrmhfc5w_400x400-1

The Karma Cafe has Opened its doors and is now serving guest. It is interesting that this cafe is doing business in such a way.It seems that this restaurant is primarily operating on the Buddhist Ideology of karma, where you pay what you can after the meal,as what goes around comes around,But how does this function in a capitalistic country?Would people just go eat and then pay what they can if its less than the cost and overhead of preparing the meal?Or will once in a while a kind soul will come and impart more payment then needed as a sign of good will?Either way the restaurant is unique and the concept interesting. In america anything goes, you never know in such a country of extreme wealth and opportunity hopefully the restaurant will thrive and do well.So in the spirit of Karma,We Wish You the Best Karma cafe!

Crime Rampant,Schools Decaying,Police Problems,Drugs everywhere, Mayors solution? Build a $300 Million dollar Bus Lane Down Central.

Albuquerque is one of the most crime ridden cities in the United States. Not only do we have a major crime problem, but we also have high drop out rates, high teen pregnancy and a major drug problem, on top of that, we have decaying schools and even worst, corruption in our police department. With all this being said, what does our mayor do?He spends our hard earned money, not on improving our community, but on a $300 million dollar Bus lane that we don’t even need! Some say so he can throw money at his contractor friends that way they can pay him political contributions when he runs for Governor. Our city has suffered the death of three beautiful children at the hands of criminals, crime is rampant, people are shooting up stores and the mayor spends money on a street project many of the businesses on central dislike and didn’t even get the chance to vote for, nonetheless sued the city over. Even more, the bus lane project is having issues being approved by the federal government for additional funding, this city is in a quagmire of a mess. One would think that a public official would look after the best interest of the people by prioritizing what needs to be done, when you have all theses serious issues that need to be fixed,a useless bus lane down central is the last thing we are concerned about;maybe next time when it comes to electing our leadership,we’ll think twice.

Thousands Protest North Dakota Oil Pipeline

US-ENVIRONMENT-PROTEST

With major advances in solar technology and the scientific proof that global warming is real, oil companies continue to alter society in a way that furthers oil dependence.Thousands of protesters continue to protest the North Dakota oil pipeline.Despite fierce opposition the North Dakota governor continues to approve of this project.Throughout all of america there have been protest for many different and vitally important causes, the election of fraudulent politicians, police murders, and the destruction of the environment. Some suggest that the protest should be economic, rallying funds towards special causes as well as boycotting certain industries, this may be the way to go.

Albuquerque’s A.R.T project construction breaks water line, waste thousands of gallons of water and taxpayer’s money

The much contested and allegedly fraudulent Route 66 A.R.T project has apparently made a major mistake– busting a water line and sending thousands of gallons of water and taxpayer’s money down the drain. The people of Albuquerque were not allowed a valid vote on this project and are now essentially paying for the wasted water. Mayor Berry and his team went forward and basically slid the project behind the peoples back and not only do the citizens have to deal with the destruction of the original route 66, but they now have to watch as a precious resource in their beloved desert city gets washed away.

Trump’s controversial deals could cost him the race

Trump’s unending controversial statements has caused his campaign to fall further in the polls.  Many Republicans have called for Trump to change his tune, but not only hasn’t he changed, he has even gone so far as opting to fire and replace his top advisers.  Some say nothing will change unless Trump’s colorful and bombastic way of irritating people ceases, which does not seem likely.  If he doesn’t start marching to the beat of a different drum, he may just force the majority of Americans people to vote him out of the race come November.

Looking out for New Mexico: Pass a “No Corporate/Industrial Tax” Law

When Gov. Richardson passed a law that grants tax breaks for Film Production companies to film in New Mexico, the movie industry flocked to New Mexico and still continues to do so!  Now let’s do the same for businesses and industrial manufacturing.  If we passed a law that removes taxes for new businesses and factories linked in Wyoming and Nevada, New Mexico would boom with opportunities.  Job employment would go through the roof and we could start moving away from being one of the poorest states economically to becoming an oasis of opportunity.  Our leadership has failed us and it’s time that we start petitioning and voting to pass laws which will attract new businesses instead of just watching as the state lags behind.  We need to make dramatic changes and this is the first step towards creating many more higher paying jobs.  Help fight to eliminate the corporate and industrial tax!

Are Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton even worthy of YOUR vote?

The word Vote on a red ballot box for collecting votes and ballo                    Many of us are not so sure. While we don’t want another corrupt politician in office, Trump seems to be taking notes straight out of Hitler’s playbook. “Let’s make Germany great again…let’s rebuild our industry… no Jews!”  Hitler was vicious in attacking any opposition, as is Trump.  It seems all politicians are crooked, and here is the truth on the matter– Clinton would certainly carry out the status quo of the .01% ruling America by sending jobs overseas and essentially oppressing and exploiting the American people by allowing no chance for upward mobility.  If push came to shove, at least she would also have Bill for some stability and our hopes would then be that we’d simply carry on for the next 4-8 years.  With Trump? Yes, the country could become stronger economically and yes, a lot of great things could happen, but racism would explode furthermore.  According to the Washington Post and other outlets, Trump is a racist, the vast majority of the .01% is racist, and to sum up this election we can either continue the status quo of corporate corruption or throw a racist slant on it… but is there a lesser of two evils?  They are both terrible candidates and some are wondering if maybe we shouldn’t even vote.  Who knows, maybe this is all a joke and something good will happen and Johnson or Sanders come back to the table. Until then, start taking yoga and meditation because you’re gonna need it.

Alien Space Kitchen Rocks New Mexico!

fountain photo cropped and sized for FB

With a sound resembling a mixture of Radiohead and The Clash, Alien Space Kitchen is rocking the locals of New Mexico.  Be prepared, these three are good.  With Noelle on drums, T. Messal aka “Mess” on bass, and Dru on guitar you will be rocked.  The band’s bio states they started as a duo when songwriter Dru Vaughter recruited Noelle to play drums and assist with vocals on a new recording project.  The result was their award-winning debut album “Just A.S.K.”  Although the original two were happy with their progress, what they truly desired was a power-trio configuration.  They believed that with the addition of bass, the songs could bask in their full garage-rock glory.  In 2013 good fortune shone upon A.S.K. when L.A. legend Messal came out of retirement to join the band.  Mess has toured the world with critically acclaimed bands Flies on Fire, VOMF, and Vitamade. When asked why he decided to get back in the game, most often he says it is because of the music.  Other times he says it was something in the water.  The rest of the band doesn’t care why, they’re just glad he did.

The band member’s influences include X, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Music Machine, WITCH, The Replacements, Kid Congo, Ohio Players, and The Kinks, to name a few. The band is also influenced by outer space… here’s what may or may not be true about the individual members and alien abductions:  Dru may have been abducted but has no recollections;  Noelle has never been abducted and knows just why;  Mess claims that he has been an abductee and has abducted a few himself.  The triangulation of these differing experiences translates in musical terms like a time-bomb of the future.  Check it out or check yourself in.
